			Walking along on a Sierra Nevada mountain trail, I noticed an unusual outcropping of stone. Its shape and shadows formed a figure, embodying the spirit of the earth. I returned to the studio and began sketching these powerful images of native people, expressing their heritage of living within the natural and spiritual worlds.
